Confused about PR? Try content marketing
Curation, content marketing, storytelling, brand journalism and citizen journalism. What’s a poor PR 2.0 pro to do? These are not just trendy topics, they’re a reality if not our new job description.
The explosion of social media channels lets anyone with a pulse publish, broadcast, speak to or reach out to millions in a moment. Sometimes it’s “kids with cameras” and predictably poor results. At other times, it’s a brilliant, quirky execution that goes viral.
With that easy access comes new challenges for PR pros and brand managers. Clients and organizations now expect us to be a video producer, web expert, social media guru, market researcher and customer service leader.
We’ll get right on it. Later this week.
But let’s start with a look at content marketing because it really covers most of these emerging – and merging – disciplines. Many of us are already deep into PR 2.0, content marketing, social marketing or whatever you want to call it.
We’ve gathered 26 excellent articles on content marketing to get you grounded. You’ll learn about curation. Get tips from content marketing leaders and innovators. Need new social media tools? Case studies? Tips and tactics?
We’ve got ’em all here and now you’ve got them. By the way, that’s curation.
While you’re at it, can you get the CEO an interview on CNN or a feature in The New York Times? We still need a speech for Monday. The employee newsletter is overdue and Greenpeace is out front demonstrating.
Just another day in public relations. Don’t you love it?
