Best PR Twits: Week of Feb 6-12-2011

by PR Coach on February 13, 2011

116 PR Twits? You don't say?

It was a busy week for the PR Twits. We found 116 valuable Twitter posts for PR pros including public relations, blogging, crisis management, internal communications, investor relations, media relations and media training, news and journalism, PR jobs, social media twitter and writing posts.

All gathered here for quick reference by PR topic.

In public relations, PRSA issued guidelines on intern programs. The PR Coach provided another installment of 25 bad news releases, Paul Seamen asked if PR should drop its “do gooding agenda?” and PR legend Harold Burson reflected on reaching 90.

Heidi Cohen offered 16 blog must-have elements. Tom HC Anderson asked thoughtfully: If you had one last blog post to write, what would you say? And Deborah Potter shared 10 handy rules for journalists that are important for PR pros too.

On the crisis PR front, Christian Howes highlighted how Maytag’s failure to respond to an online customer generated big, negative PR and an opportunity for quick thinking competitors. Michelle Van Kriedt showed five things Taco Bell did right in managing its crisis using social media.

Domenic Jones shared 10 examples of CEOs and CFOs rocking YouTube and five ways IR departments are improving their earnings calls. The Q4 Blog looked at effectively communicating ‘say on pay’ to shareholders.

Media relations was a very busy topic as always. Doug Simon interviewed Erik Jackson, Senior Editor at InStyle Magazine on the perfect pitch. PRWeb added a useful case study on how to get media attention for your small business while Brad Phillips offered tips on what to do with your hands during media interviews. The PR Coach sourced journalists on Twitter in Canada and Pascal Gilbert’s US list, while 10 Yetis found the Top 100 in the UK.

Our social media Twits were flying with Facebook tips for your brand by JD Lasica,  Niall Harbison on the five avenues Facebook opens for business and Beth Kanter’s interview with Alison Zarrella on how to utilize Facebook for nonprofits.

We also had Brian Whalley’s useful marketer’s guide to Quora, 50 Digg tactics for internet marketers and Don Campbell’s advice on what to do if you get a bad online review. Finally, Rebecca Caroe very generously shared her social media training slides, introducing social media to business, which is a superb resource for any PR or social media consultant.

And, there were many more PR Twits on jobs, writing and media training as well. All in all, Twitterville was tweeting up a storm this week.

Need more resources on public relations and Twitter? You can follow @thePRCoach Jeff Domansky on Twitter or get hundreds of additional Twitter tips and tactics in The PR Library.

As always, feel free to drop us a comment or suggestion on how we can make these PR Twits even more useful. Note Tweets with a W are PR Coach “winners” worth reading.
