Twitterville was a rush hour this week as the PR Twits sourced 117 excellent Twitter posts for PR people on every topic.
Andrea Weinfurt highlighted why PR pros need a content strategy while Valeria Maltoni shared 10 reasons why your content strategy fails. Priya Ramesh wrote an entertaining post on Communication Advice from Press Secretaries.
In a New York Times column, Bruce Buschel ignited a big debate on The Problem with Public Relations.
Looking for blogging tips? Catch Chris Street on creating the perfect blog, Darren Monroe’s 21 ideas for blog content, writing tight from Rich Becker and Jennifer Aaker/Andy Smith’s 7 Deadly Sins of business storytelling.
On the crisis management front, tune in to Twitter’s Maria Ogneva on dealing with negative online sentiment. Leslie Gaines-Ross shows how to use avatars to fight badvocates. The PR Coach, Jeff Domansky, highlighted two food recalls done right and Katie Van Domelen looked at how Toyota turned a blogging brush fire into a win.
In investor relations, Richard Ketchen looked at Monster annual reports, useful content and ICAS recommendations for better IR practices. Inside Investor Relations offered a survey of US IR best practices. Jan Schultink shares tips on a VC pitch and designing excellent investor relations presentations.
Heidi Cohen had 21 terrific tips on how to do branding without a budget while Steve Cody suggested you aren’t what you say you are unless the customer agrees.
For media relations pros, Michael Sebastian reminded us 87 percent of journalists want their press releases via e-mail. Brad Phillips shared Nine Things New Spokespersons Need to Know and Cision provided a useful, free Briefing Book of Engagement Profiles for Arts & Entertainment Media.
“Churnalism” was a hot topic in Twitterville with Jon Slattery’s So who came up with the word churnalism?, Churnalism is not PR’s fault by Heather Yaxley and Paul Lewis’ Guardian article Churnalism or news? How PR have taken over the media.
We had a bunch of PR Fails as usual including Timothy Johnson, Kwik Fit,Livingstone Group’s work for Libya and Forrester analyst Josh Bernoff’s call for PR professionals to clean up your industry.
Social media was active too. Kyle Lacy shared 40 ways to build trust in your personal brand. Kevin Dugan reminded us not to have Twitter/Facebook tunnel vision with other social media like Yelp available. Pierre Le Leannec asked about Quora and other Q and A platforms and Angela Connor highlighted YouTube as the 2nd biggest search engine after Google.
